Lance Reddick, star of The Wire, Fringe, Bosch, and co-star of Keanu Reeves in the John Wick films, has died. The actor was 60.

Reddick died of natural causes in his Los Angeles home on Friday, it has emerged.

Reddick’s widow Stephanie posted to his Twitter and Instagram accounts, paying tribute to her late husband:

“Lance was taken from us far too soon. Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them.”

Stephanie singled out fans of the video game series Destiny in particular (the actor had voiced the role of Zavala since 2014), adding “And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game.”

A prolific actor with a distinctive and unique voice, and an enigmatic presence, Reddick leaves behind several finished projects which will soon see the light of day including John Wick: Chapter 4, and its spin-off The Ballerina, the Kiefer Sutherland-led film The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial for Showtime, Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Hulu’s White Men Can’t Jump reboot, among others.

Although Lance Reddick’s credits are many, his signature role is perhaps that of Baltimore cop Cedric Daniels from HBO’s The Wire.

Stephanie Reddick advised fans and mourners that “Donations may be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.”
