Star Trek: Prodigy, the animated Trek series recently saved from cancelation on Paramount+ by streaming giant Netflix, finally has a premiere date for its first batch of episodes.

Netflix will air Season One of the series on December 25, 2023. The news came today as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week announcements.

The series is the first show set in the Star Trek universe not to air on Paramount+ since the franchise was revamped for the small screen in 2017. Paramount+’s other Trek properties include Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Short Treks, and Brave New Worlds.

Star Trek: Prodigy follows “a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search of a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the ‘Star Trek’ franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.”

The series stars Kate Mulgrew, Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Rylee Alazraqui, Angus Imrie, Jason Mantzoukas, Dee Bradley Baker, Jimmi Simpson, and John Noble.

There is still no news on a premiere date for season 2.
