Netflix has unveiled a first look at Squid Game: The Challenge, a new reality series based on 2021’s South Korean survival drama series Squid Game.
With a tagline boasting “456 real people. 4.56 million dollars” the new reality series pits real players against each other in pursuit of a life-changing reward of USD $4.56 million.
As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show – plus surprising new additions – their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.
The challenges and game arenas so closely mirror those of the original drama series that you may find yourself doing a double take during this 2 minute teaser clip below.
Players are even “shot” for illegal movement during the iconic ‘Red Light Green Light’ game, with one player exclaiming “Oh sh*t!” when finding herself unexpectedly blasted with elimination paint, thanks to a sniper’s actions.
Squid Game: The Challenge premieres 10 new episodes globally on Nov. 22 on Netflix, with new episodes premiering weekly through December 6.
The series is executive produced by Nicola Brown (The Garden), Tim Harcourt (Studio Lambert), John Hay (The Garden), Toni Ireland (Studio Lambert), Anna Kidd, Stephen Lambert (Studio Lambert), Louise Peet, Nia Yemoh (Studio Lambert), Stephen Yemoh (Studio Lambert).
