Heads up Walking Dead fans. Daryl and Carol are reunited and it feels so good.

McBride, who played fan favorite character Carol Peletier throughout all eleven seasons of The Walking Dead was initially tapped to join Norman Reedus’ Daryl in the spin-off that is now The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

However, it was rumored that McBride could not make the move to France for the first season of the show, prompting Walking Dead execs to focus entirely on Daryl’s story moving forward.

However, news broke on Oct. 12 at New York Comic Con that McBride will now join Reedus in the show’s second season, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol set to debut in 2024.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” said McBride.

“Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”

However fans won’t have to wait for season 2 for McBride’s first appearance. Carol will appear in the show’s season one finale on Sunday, October 15 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.

Season one of the series sees Daryl (Reedus) washing ashore in France and struggling to piece together how he got there and why. We tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.

Currently in production on Season 2, the series stars Reedus, McBride, Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is executive produced by showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman and Steve Squillante.

Meanwhile, in other Walking Dead related news, the second half of the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead returns Sunday, October 22 at 9pm ET/8c on AMC and AMC+ and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, is set to premiere in February 2024.
