Prime Video has a streaming date for Fallout, it was revealed today.
Set in the future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, the series is an original story based on the Fallout game series, and will form part of the canon of the games.
The video game series spans several games across the 21st, 22nd and 23rd centuries, and pits the player against a brutal future USA devastated by a past nuclear armageddon.
Often the player begins by waking up in an underground vault where the vestiges of humanity cling to life, free of radiation and the challenges and enemies of the wasteland above, but often beaten down by politics and events of their particular vault circumstances.
As the player progresses through the game, they discover several other ‘failed’ vaults that tell a story of corruption, greed, the search for power, and sometimes just humanity’s failure at surviving the elements above.
An atompunk retro-futuristic setting, a deep love for the sci-fi of the 1950’s, and a wry sense of humor made Fallout an iconic game series, cleverly infused with 1950’s post-war culture references and artwork throughout. (It ranks on this reviewer’s top 5 personal game series ever.)
Fallout, the series comes from Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld.
It will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The global streamer will drop its TV screen adaptation of the fan favorite video game series on April 12, 2024.
Fallout’s cast includes Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), Aaron Moten (Emancipation), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Frances Turner (The Boys), Dave Register (Heightened), Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Ant-Man), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time).
