Suits creator Aaron Korsh is rumored to be developing another TV show set in the Suits universe.
Sources reported to Deadline Thursday that Korsh is working with NBC Universal on the new project, which is not a spin-off or a sequel, but another series set in the same universe as Suits, much like the NCIS franchise on CBS.
According to the report, the new lawyer drama series may be set in Los Angeles and will feature an entirely new cast.
Suits, a fast-paced and quick-witted workplace drama originally aired on NBC’s USA Network, and starred Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres.
The show ran for 9 seasons from 2011 to 2019, and spawned a short-lived spin-off Pearson, with Torres in the leading role.
However since being acquired by Netflix, the show has witnessed a major revival of interest, topping viewership charts for over 4 months.
While some speculate the sudden attention is spurred by interest in Meghan Markle, and others suggest the viewing figures are bolstered by a flat broadcast season, there is no denying the show’s popularity, then or now.
Suits was praised for slick dialogue, intelligent character development, moments of unexpected comedy (most often courtesy of Rick Hoffman and recurring guest star Rachael Harris), rapid pacing, and last but not least, its exquisite costuming.
