ABC has announced renewals for Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, and Will Trent, all of which are set to return as part of the Network’s 2024/25 primetime broadcast lineup.
Grey’s Anatomy — the longest-running primetime medical drama will return for a 21st Season. Speaking in a statement, Shonda Rhimes, relinquished showrunning duties to Meg Marinis ahead of Season 20 commented “The loyalty and love of Grey’s Anatomy fans has propelled us into a historic 21st season, and I could not be more grateful. Meg Marinis’ storytelling is a gift that continues to keep the show vibrant, compelling and alive, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for next season.”
Meanwhile, 9-1-1’s renewal is another clear success story for ABC. The first responder drama was originally canceled after season 6 on FOX before being picked up for a seventh season involving a romantic cruise for Bobby and Athena turning deadly as their ship capsizes. 9-1-1 will officially return for season 8.
Will Trent, based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling series of the same name, follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Abandoned at birth and enduring a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system, Will now uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice.
Will Trent will officially return for Season 3.
