Fans of Hulu’s The Bear may not immediately recognize a bulked up Jeremy Allen White in this new trailer for A24’s The White Claw.
The actor has traded his apron for a six pack in the true life story of the Von Erichs, a family of pro wrestlers who saw their full share of tragedy over the course of their lives and careers.
White told GQ that he put on 40 pounds of muscle for the role.
A similarly physically impressive Zac Efron takes on the role of Kevin, while White plays younger brother Kerry in the clip below.
Throughout, their father Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany) is seen as a singular and driven man who bullied his sons towards success, depression, drugs, and suicide.
It was Fritz (real name Jack Adkisson) who made the iconic wrestling move known as The Iron Claw famous, but the film chooses to focus its attention on the inseparable bond between the Adkisson brothers over the course of their tempestuous career and lives.
Also starring are Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Maura Tierney as Doris, and Lily James as Kevin’s wife, Pam.
The Iron Claw is written and directed by Sean Durkin of The Nest and Martha Marcy May Marlene fame.
The Iron Claw was developed by House Productions, Access Entertainment, and BBC Films, with A24 producing.
The Iron Claw hits in theaters December 22, 2023.
